This time around I’ll be taking a look at Elitegroup Computer Systems 945G-M3 motherboard.
First a little background:
ECS, the Elitegroup Computer Systems, has been a pioneer in designing and manufacturing computer motherboards since 1987. It was the first motherboard maker in Taiwan to be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1994. Today, the company also designs and manufactures barebone and complete systems, such as notebook computers and high-end servers, for distributors worldwide.
- 1988 First to introduce a 32-bit motherboard
- Won its first CeBit Best Product Design Award for its NEAT All-in-one motherboard
- 1992 First to introduce a 64-bit motherboard
- Implemented the Green PC standards into its products
- 1996 First motherboard maker in Taiwan to introduce a dual processor
- Intel Pentium motherboard, P6FX2-A
- 1998 First to deliver a Socket 7 motherboard with 100MHz system-bus
- 2001 First to deliver an affordable portable computer known as the DeskNote PC
- 2003 Introduced EZ-Buddie, a Small Form Factor Entertainment PC
- 2006 Introduced several new products catering to the enthusiast segment.
Earlier this year ECS introduced several new motherboards that have caught the eye of the hardware enthusiasts. The ECS KN1 SLI Extreme, as reviewed by our own DickNervous here, the ECS KA3 MVP Extreme (One of the first motherboards to deliver Crossfire support via the AMD AM2 socket) has shown that ECS can play with the big boys.
This leads us to one of the latest releases from ECS the 945G-M3. The version we will be looking at in this review is the 945G-M3 Viiv version.
